The last time I sewed an outfit for myself I was 12 and went through puberty during the making of it so it only fit for about a month after I finished it. It was an adorable shorts and shirt set in pink and white checks. I think my mom may have contributed heavily to the making of the outfit.

Actually, I did sew a Princess Leia outfit about 9 years ago but since I didn't take the time to relearn how to sew a zipper, I used Velcro for every single closure. It worked beautifully.

I also went through a purse sewing phase about 7 years ago thanks to borrowing my seamstress sister's sewing machine.

Now, in my late 30s, I'm learning all over again with a girl named Candi Cane (real name), and was excited to learn how to gather. Who knew?

And I finally learned how to sew a freakin' zipper.
