New Monorail Tracks Ready at the Bottom of Cranes

Another photo of Tokyo-monorail-track-switching-work.

Two new tracks are ready under the old tracks. The Chinese character on the end of the track is “Hama”, which means Hamamatsu-cho, a terminal of the Tokyo Monorail. On the other end is “Hane”, which means Haneda, the other terminal. The track will be installed so that “Hama” side would face toward Hamamatsu-cho.

The other letters KU02 and KD02 also should mean the place where the track will be installed. I cannot find what “K” means. U and D should mean “up” and “down”. We call train “up” when it is going toward Tokyo station, and “down” for reverse direction. So, “U” will be used in the track for “up” trains, and “D” will be used in the track for “down” trains. The number 02 should mean the order in the track.
