Matsuzakaya Department Store in Ueno-hirokoji

The buildings connected by bridges in the picture are the main building and the south building of a department store called Ueno Matsuzakaya. It is common structure of department stores in Japan. Since large selling space often occupies more than two blocks, it is divided into a few buildings connected with bridges. I do not know if this is common in other countries.

Another sample of bridges connecting department store buildings is shown in "Tamagawa Takashimaya White Bridges ".
