COVID_19: CRS Ethiopia
Ibsa Mohamed, age 35, who is unemployed, comes to collect his family’s ration in Ijaa Aneni District of Dire Dawa Administration, Ethiopia. “The support is very good and we would like it to be increased and distributed based on number of members in each family.” he said. Ijaa Aneni is one of the communities CRS is distributing critical food aid in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has hit Ethiopian farmers at a time when they were already grappling with the worst locust plague in the past 25 years as well as the cyclical draughts and floods that are threatening their livelihoods. CRS Development Food Assistance (DFSA) and the Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP) are distributing food aid in response to this compounding crisis. CRS has initiated COVID-19 responses in 9 to the 10 regions of Ethiopia. Moving 44,000 Mts of food.
