Nickname (aka): Alex; ALF
Race Category: MTB: Expert
Residenze: Mammoth Lakes, CA
Résumé: After a season racing Cat 4 road in the early 1990’s, it looked like the mountain bikers were having so much more fun, so I started racing mtb that next year and haven’t looked back.
Velo(s) I Ride: MTB: Santa Cruz Superlight and Trek SS; Road: Cannondale R4000
How I support by Bike Habit: Local corporate welfare (Mammoth Mountain Ski Area)
Best Time on the Bike: Anytime on my mtb. Any time it’s not windy on my road bike.
Worst Time on the Bike: 1991. First road bike. Long ride in Lancaster along the aqueduct with my Velo Fella. Verrrrrry windy. Got off bike, held it over my head, ready to throw it into the aqueduct, but my more sensible and wind-tolerant Fella grabbed it from me just prior to launch.
My Motto: Same as Joseph Campbell’s: “Follow your bliss.”
Favorite Post-Ride Food: Anything with sugar and saturated fat.
Favorite Web Site: workingforchange.org
Grab Bag: Best ski movie ever: Greg Stump’s “P-tex, Lies, and Duct Tape”
