Beautiful! Can't decide what I like best: the crabs, the breakers, or just everything else:)

Looks like this MOC will not be eligible for the contest, per an Admin's post. Pretty damn stupid on their part to disqualify snot bases, but whatever, it's their contest. An admin didn't disqualify it here, so I guess it is in.

That is so awesome, saw it on brothers Brick. I love how the rocks actually look like seaside rocks. And all the animals, of course.

This whole being an admin thing really requires a thick skin, I guess as soon as you set rules you are going to have to deal with people breaking them and the occasional winge, but as this MOC is mounted on a 32x32 base to clearly show it's dimensions (I will state this again) it is definitely eligible for the contest.

Aaron> That's where "my contest, my rules" comes in. I find it amusing that even though the rules on SNOT bases are perfectly clear and much discussed someone has still managed to miss them. Champion effort! I also find it amusing that most (all?) of the people claiming this may not fit the rules obviously hadn't read the rules thread since I'd asked about precisely this and been told it was allowed.

PS. Dear all, READ THE F'ING RULES. Thanks!
  • Matt Forcum 7y

The issue stems from a rule that was added later and was not part of the original rules posting. (here) with further support here.

So though SNOT water wasn't originally outlawed, it was later decided that SNOT water would not be acceptable. That ruling was then overturned to allow SNOT water as long as it was on a 32X32 base. here.

So yes, it is confusing indeed. I was, for a time, confused on the matter myself. And I read the f'ing rules.
  • Tim Gould 7y

I wouldn't say it was overturned, merely clarified. I'd guess that addition was put in place to save the judges from counting plates in the SNOT base. So I guess what I really meant was 'read the f'ing rules IN FULL' ;)

NB. I'm still reeling from some of the stupidity of entries to PotW so I'm a little more harsh than usual about rules and the reading thereof.

    This is really great SlyOwl!
The details and SNOT are superb, and those rocks look simply fantastic.

Yo SlyOwl, apparently you seem to have a little fan. he seems to have built a moc that looks exactly like the one you built here. Coincidence eh?

Ive been meaning to look for this for a while now. This was the first pirate moc I saw when I joined the online community, and imo its still one of the best pirate scenes out there. You really nailed this one, so many techniques and details, it looks just right and has a real pirate feel to it. Awesome.
