Sporty Skoda, Group B rally car..

It has been mentioned that this is apparantly the first, possibly the only 130LR built in RHD form.

However, I am now digging for info and have so far found one other at least. F181 OVT which must be one of the last.

More interesting is the fact that on the site of this one, and mentoined in a pic in this set is a sun strip - SURPRISING SKODA - some of the rally Skodas had this strip, I will see if in fact that car is a rally, it does have a roof ariel so could well's buried though !

Group B rallying spawned some awsomely powerful evolution cars in the 80's such as the Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro, but the group was short lived, it was banned in 1986 after a Group B Ford crashed and killed driver Henri Toivonen AND spectators.

Skoda were able to continue as their engines were smaller and enjoyed some good results untill the 130LR was withdrawn from rallying in 1988-the year this car was last taxed.

Also that year, rear engined rally cars were effectively banned anyway as GROUP A rules prevented anyone from homologating rear engined cars..
