sequoia deerhead rear derailleur

Original Shimano DeerHead rear derailleurs. I think these derailleurs were the precursor to the Deore XT line.

I friction shift using Suntour Barcon shifters and the freewheel is a 6 speed with 34 tooth large cog. The DeerHead derailleur shift this with ease.

    actually these were called deore xt then. "deore" stems from the deer somehow. there were two models of this rear mech - the one shown, and the troublesome "superplate" model. I had the superplate and it was crap. wish I kept the miyata ridge runner though.

    that derailleur is in beautiful condition! i have the same rear derailleur and a very similar overall setup as yours on my touring bike.
