Korea-bound Whymcycle with momma-to-be Jerri and Sam
Jerri has @ 5 weeks until she is due, and here both she Sam get a last pose
on old Hoosier Whymsy #114. I am donating it, via our city of Davis, CA,
to our Korean sister city, Sangju.
This fine example being but one variation of our cycling fancies.
Built (not Jerri, though she IS) in November of '05, and raced in '06 & '08 in Kinetic Sculpture Races in California, Oregon & Washington state. This bouncer (again the bike) has Hoosier left rear 94'"circumference racing tires fore and aft. The front rim is an alloy split rim with no center, the axel supported by a pair of 20" BMX rims under tension centerward. The rear wheel is @ a 1963 15"x 5 "VW rim..the tire is 15"x15" , so the sidewalls are Waaay tucked in towards the bead. The rear axel is offset 5", and consists of a 3/4" swamp cooler fan-shaft & bushings mounted hard against the outermost edge of the rim, using the lug holes and steel angle. The side frame triangles are the sides of a shop awning frame.
The Schwinn Yo! scooter frame is triangulated with 3/4" conduit, and the fork is widened to 17" and braced with golden fork and chain-guard bits from a classic Schwinn Exercycle. The blue paint is the same Giraffe blue I used this year on the Blue and Fuchsia Giraffe Hoosier bouncer Kinetic Sculpture Racer, elsewhere on this stream.
Here she describes it, and rides it for some bemused English Brompton enthusiasts.. 341
