My First Big Wheel, July '75

Taken by Elliot Gilbert, up in the Hollywood Hills. He caught me riding the bike home from bloody UCLA, me in riding britches of my Pa's, and a Pith helmet on my head.

Been silly for a long, long time, eh what?! Beer?

This make of bike was labelled "The Old Fashioned", and had a tag on it that said;

"For display purposes only, not for highway use". The fork broke off once, the tire came off another, the seat broke, it was Heavy, the front rim was made from steel hardware channel. Still, I put several hundred miles on it, doing over 50 miles on it in the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial parade down the full length of Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, to the beach in Santa Monica and then some.

I still have the tie, knickers, argyle socks and wingtip shoes, too.
