Mamou Mardi Gras Courir, March 5, 2019
These photos of the Mamou Mardi Gras Courir were taken about 1:45 p.m. at a stop along a route through the countryside east of Mamou. By that time, though the wind was still chilly, the sun had warmed the air to about 50 degrees. The Mardi Gras charged down a short driveway before being diverted to an open field. People on a long trailer watched the Mardi Gras spread across the field dancing, roughhousing, and chasing a chicken thrown by a co-captain on horseback (too far from me to get a photo).
