Jam sessions, cookoff, other music at Blackpot Festival, Oct. 27, 2018
This album includes photos of jam sessions, the cookoff, and a shot from one of two smaller stages that featured numerous musicians throughout the day during Blackpot Festival, Oct. 27, 2018. The two-day festival was held on the grounds of the Vermilionville Living History and Folk Life Park in Lafayette, LA.

A number of well known Acadiana musicians participated in the jam sessions. In the cookoff competition, teams prepared a variety of dishes in black pots and served samples to festival goers. The winners were announced that evening. I visited only one of the performances at the smaller stages: Cedric Watson on accordion with Desiree Champagne on rubboard. As one photo shows, the venue was really packed, but, for those who didn’t want to squeeze inside, the sound system included speakers on the porch so that people could enjoy the music outside.
