The Creole String Beans, Blackpot Festival, Oct. 27, 2018
The Creole String Beans, a band based in New Orleans, performed 5-6 p.m. on the main stage in the Vermilionville Performance Center during the Blackpot Festival, Oct. 27, 2018. The two-day festival was held on the grounds of the Vermilionville Living History and Folk Life Park in Lafayette, LA.

The Creole String Beans played at Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, but, rushing back and forth across Girard Park, covering Cajun and zydeco bands, I never had a chance to see them. Rick Olivier, their front man, is a widely known New Orleans photographer who, among his many accomplishment, published a stunning collection of black and white photographs of zydeco musicians in the 1999 book “Zydeco!” with text written by Ben Sandmel.
