Cajun and Creole Fiddle Masters, Liberty Theater, May 20, 2017
“Cajun and Creole Fiddle Masters,” a show organized by Steve Riley May 20, 2017, at the Liberty Theater, offered the sounds at the roots of Louisiana French music before the accordion. Riley introduced performances by Mitch Reed, Kevin Wimmer, David Greely, Ed Poullard, Jeffery Broussard, Jamey Bearb, Jason Bergeron, Michael Doucet, Courtney Granger, and Cedric Watson. He also opened the show playing fiddled accompanied by his son, Burke, on triangle.
For the finale, all of the fiddlers joined together on stage to play a spectacular rendition of “J’étais au bal.”

This was a really unique opportunity to hear phenomenal pure fiddle music for an entire evening. Steve also interviewed each performer, offering fascinating details about their backgrounds.

Steve Riley is planning to organize additional shows at the Liberty, including a Creole accordion program and a performance by the Mamou Playboys. For more information, go to his Facebook page, www.facebook.com/steve.riley.967.
