Cameron Dupuy and the Cajun Troubadours at the Liberty Theater, May 13, 2017
The New Orleans-based band Cameron Dupuy and the Cajun Troubadours performed at the Liberty Theater May 13, 2017.

Cameron Dupuy is a phenomenal accordionist who first played at the Liberty in 2010 when he was about 12 years old. Based on that performance, the Cajun Troubadours were booked to play at Festivals Acadiens et Créoles. They have since performed frequently at that festival and many other events, including the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Cameron has won numerous accordion contests. He has recorded two CDs, most recently with the Mid-City Aces.

The Cajun Troubadours band was formed in 1992 by Cameron’s father, Michael Dupuy, who is the group’s vocalist and guitarist. Eric O’Blanc, who played accordion with the band back then, joined them on several numbers at the 2017 Liberty show.

Other band members at the Liberty were Marshall Baker on fiddle; Rick Robinson on bass; and Brian Brignac on drums. In addition to Cajun standards, the band performed a couple of Appalachian tunes and closed with a rousing version of “Baby, Please Don’t Go.”

The group has a regular gig 7 pm to midnight at the Bayou Club on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Cameron and Michael, and Marshall are currently playing 1-3 pm every Tuesday and Thursday at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans.
