Eunice Mardi Gras Courir Parade, March 5, 2019
The Eunice Mardi Gras Courir paraded through downtown Eunice March 5, 2019, reaching my vantage point in front of the Liberty Theater at the corner of Second Street and Park Boulevard about 3:30 p.m. The bright sun felt good on a rather chilly Mardi Gras Day, but, by then, shadows from oak trees were beginning to edge across the street, creating harsh contrasts that I tried to avoid. Toward the end of the parade, I used a small step ladder to attempt to get shots of the crowd waving at the Mardi Gras throwing beads from colorful trailers rounding the corner onto Park Boulevard. Most of the parade had passed by the time I left to put the ladder in my car so I could return to downtown Eunice to photograph Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys performing on the Fred Charlie Music Stage.
