Harry LaFleur leads Bal de Maison at Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, Aug. 27, 2016
Harry LaFleur, founder of the Cajun French Music Association, led a special program of music from the Bal de Maison era 2:45-4:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at the Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in downtown Eunice next to the Liberty Theater. The session, a special edition of the center’s regular Saturday music program, was presented as part of the Park Service’s national 100th birthday celebration. (President Woodrow Wilson signed the act creating the service on Aug. 25, 1916.) During the rest of the day, the Center offered an enhanced version of the usual schedule of Saturday activities.
