Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners, Downtown Eunice Mardi Gras Street Dance, Feb. 9, 2016
Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners closed out the Fred Charlie Stage on Mardi Gras evening in downtown Eunice, Feb. 9, 2016. Gathered in front of the stage was the largest crowd I can recall for a Eunice Mardi Gras evening street dance.

Where in the past, Eunice had two stages downtown, in 2016, organizers decided to offer only one stage with more bands. It was named in honor of Cajun musician and record producer Fred Charlie, the original organizer of the Second Street stage who is still an organizer for the event. Various businesses and individuals contributed to fund the stage.

The ever-changing colored lighting made photography a bit difficult, even with the addition of some flash. My attempts at color correction in Lightroom often produced odd combinations of red and green so I decided to convert some shots to black and white, or, in one case, to change the green color of Leo Thomas’s coat to blue in an attempt to match the actual color.
