Brandon Ledet and Creole Touch at the Liberty Theater, Oct. 4, 2014
Brandon Ledet and Creole Touch performed at the Liberty Theater, Oct. 4, 2014, offering some classic Creole and zydeco music. They played songs such as “Amédé Two-Step,” “Quo faire,” “Trail Ride Zydeco,” “Good-bye to the Kings,” “Pain de mais,” and “Zydeco Boogaloo,” which included a rubboard solo. In addition to Brandon Ledet on accordion and lead vocals, the band included his great uncle, Ben Singleton, a veteran guitarist who played with Clifton Chenier, Rockin’ Sidney, Rockin’ Dopsie, Boozoo Chavis and other greats; his cousin, Lamar Richard, on scrubboard; and Derrick Guidry, son of veteran zydeco musician Cornelius Guidry, on drums. Classie Ballou Jr., familiar to just about every zydeco fan from his years with Boozoo Chavis, Zydeco Joe Mouton, Jeffery Broussard and many other bands, played bass in his inimitable style despite having to deal with an injured left arm in a sling.
