26th annual Eunice World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cookoff, March 27, 2011
This set consists of photos taken between about 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the 26th annual Eunice World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cookoff, held at the Northwest Community Center Pavilion. Businesses, politicians, and various organizations competed in the contest, which is as much about having a good time as winning awards. Booths circled around the outside of the pavilion, where people danced to Cajun music.

Booths sold cup-size samples of étouffée for $2.

This year, music was supplied by Kyle Huval and the Dixie Club Ramblers and the Pine Leaf Boys. It was overcast until mid-afternoon, but the contrast between the dark shade under the pavilion and the much brighter sky behind the stage created a considerable backlighting issue.
