Lil Pookie and the Zydeco Sensations at Opelousas Music and Market, April 1, 2011
These photos of Lil Pookie (Jimmy Seraile) were taken at the first spring 2011 Music and Market in Opelousas on April 1. A good crowd gathered under and around the pavilion, some dancing and many more just enjoying Lil Pookie’s blend of old school zydeco songs from legends like Boozoo Chavis with his own brand of contemporary zydeco.

A native of Frilot Cove and the grandson of the late Delton Broussard, Lil Pookie began performing when he was very young, played with Zydeco Force and other bands, formed his own band, the Zydeco Heartbreakers, and released a 2000 CD. He departed from the zydeco scene, but now he’s back with a new CD, “Just Want to Be Me” on the Maison de Soul label, and a new band, the Zydeco Sensations.
