Mamou Mardi Gras Parade, music by Keith Frank, Feb. 25, 2020
I took photographs of the Creole Mardi Gras parade in Mamou one other time on a rainy Mardi Gras in 2013. In 2020, the weather for the Mamou Mardi Gras Parade down the north end of Sixth Street was beautiful. The crowd was huge. After a trail ride and Mardi Gras chicken run that started at 10 a.m. the parade included trailers and floats, horse riders, and a lot of four wheelers. Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band were performing that afternoon on Sixth Street, so I photographed them until the parade arrived at about 3 p.m. The photos were taken at a steep angle because I was standing right next to the stage, unable to move in the crowd.
