Eunice Mardi Gras Courir, Feb. 25, 2020
These photos of the Eunice Mardi Gras Courir were taken where the courir crosses Highway 13 starting about 10 a.m. on a cloudy, cool morning. As I recall, Captain Pat Frey, riding on horseback, threw four chickens in an open area near the intersection. I couldn’t follow him galloping across the field closely enough to get shots of the actual chicken chase. I stayed at the intersection taking photographs until the entire courir, including all of the trailers and floats, had passed.
This year, I had the camera set on manual with auto ISO, which works well except that I tend to forget to dial back the shutter speed when I’m not taking action shots, resulting in photos with unnecessarily high ISOs.
