Geno Delafose led Zydeco Capital Jam Jan. 11, 2019
Geno Delafose led the Zydeco Capital Jam 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center off I-49 at exit 23 a few miles north of Opelousas. In addition to playing and singing, he answered questions from the audience about his music and about accordions. He said that he recorded music for a CD five years ago but still has no specific plans to release a CD, a process that he hasn’t always been happy with in the past.

Several accomplished musicians took part in the jam along with young man who is learning the play the accordion. During the latter part of the jam, for the first time in many years, I got a chance to photograph Geno playing a piano accordion.

The jam, held on the second Saturday of each month, was organized by Herman Fuselier, executive director of the St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission. For information about future jams on the second Saturday of the month, go to www.facebook.com/VisitStLandryParish/.
