Zydeco Capital Jam with Horace Trahan, Nov. 9, 2019
These photos were taken November 9, 2019, during the first 45 minutes of the Zydeco Capital Jam held 1-3 p.m.on the second Saturday of every month at the St. Landry Parish Visitor Center off I-49 a few miles north of Opelousas. Horace Trahan led the jam accompanied by other Ossun Express band members Rodney Alexander and Doug Garb, joined by Cajun fiddler Zachary Fuselier, and including a couple of young jam participants. In addition to playing, Horace also chatted with audience members and answered questions. He talked about how his musical interests evolved and also discussed the differences between single-row and triple-row accordions.

The Zydeco Capital Jam is organized by Herman Fuselier, executive director of the St. Landry Tourist Commission. For more information, go to www.facebook.com/VisitStLandryParish/.

I decided to make my road trip from Eunice do double duty, so, after getting photos of the zydeco jam, I headed south on I-49 to catch the last 40 minutes of the Cajun jam at Vermilionville in Lafayette.
