The Daiquiri Queens, Festivals Acadiens et Créoles, Oct. 13, 2019
The Daiquiri Queens performed at the Salle de Dance tent Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, during the 45th annual Festivals Acadiens et Créoles in Lafayette’s Girard Park. During the show they paid tribute to Dale Dugas, and they wore t-shirts displaying a photo from Dugas’s 1993 CD Chanteuse Cadjinne. As recounted in a news story by Dominick Cross in The Advocate, Dugas traveled from Florida where she has lived for the past 21 years to be in the audience. This year’s festival focused on the role of women in Cajun and Creole music.
