Archive photos: Kathleen Blanco (1942-2019) with Magnolia Sisters at 2003 campaign rally
After I finding out that former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco died Aug. 18, 2019, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle against cancer, I decided to upload four photos from a campaign rally in Eunice Sept. 30, 2003, that featured music by the Magnolia Sisters. (One photo in the set was previously uploaded.) Members of the band were Jane Vidrine, Anya Burgess, Ann Savoy and Lisa Trahan with Kenny Alleman on drums. If I recall correctly, the Magnolia Sisters also recorded a campaign song in French that aired on radio.

I voted for Kathleen Blanco, the first and only woman to be elected our state's governor. She was honest, compassionate, and dedicated to moving Louisiana forward as well as to preserving cultural traditions that make the state unique.
