This is now my third year observing and photographing the behavior of American bald eagles. I am blessed to live near several active and occupied eagle nests.

Recently I was fortunate to come across a new eagle nest being built. These images depict the pair of eagles (male and female) working on the nest by braking off branches from nearby trees and returning to the nest location to work on the nest.

I am finding that fall (autumn) is the best time to get action shots of eagles. It is also when the adult eagles devote the most time to nest building/maintenance activity. That is because the leaves have mostly fallen from the trees, making the branches much more visable and easy to brake off. In addition, during the spring and summer the adults pair are busy with incubating the eggs and then raising (feeding) the young eagles.
