Newton Hill Residence Main Hall (Powder Room Door)

Lake Logan Martin, Cropwell / Pell City, Alabama - this Lake Residence includes an above ground FEMA 320 compliant Safe Room disguised as the Powder Room. The Powder Room is immediately off the Main Hall/Gallery seen in the above picture (in this picture, the powder room door is on the left side of the hall, next to the cased opening to the foyer & dining room beyond, at the end of the hall). Constructed of steel reinforced & concrete filled concrete block with a poured-in-place concrete ceiling, there is no observable sign of the storm shelter besides the significant heft of the Powder Room Door noticed when operating it - the door is an 8 ft. tall FEMA 320 compliant CECO Storm Pro 320 door with locking hardware that controls a 3 point locking system with single standard residential style door lever (no surface mounted bolts or multiple dead bolts). The door is further disguised by cladding it in cherry rails, stiles, & panels to match the typical interior door.
