I love photographing statues. I think it's because they keep still and
don't start posing when I want to take a natural shot! There aren't that
many in the area where I live, but this one is in the churchyard in my
village, so I can go and see her any time I want to. I discovered her last
winter when there was deep snow on the ground and I was wandering
around looking for snowy shots.
I think she is so beautiful!
I love the patina that has coloured her over the years that she's been
standing out in all weathers. When I photographed her in the snow,
the tree above her was bare branches and let the light through, and
the deep snow reflected the light. Today she was hiding under the
canopy of the tree which didn't let much light through. I think that has
enhanced her green hue.
