Anole in Cloud Forest Habitat
Equatorial Anole (Anolis aequatorialis) - Mindo, Ecuador
I feel like too often I get caught up in trying to find as many different species as possible and try to see it all rather than taking a deep breath and relaxing. This results in me snapping a few photos of the things I encounter and moving on trying to find the next species, and while this does certainly produce some fantastic finds its good to take it slow once in a while. This is what I did here, partially because I was having lots of equipment issues that prevented me from using my usual techniques, partially because I always mean to take photos like this but rarely get around to it but here I had time to spare. Here I decided to really focus on the photo rather than just get a few quick snaps and move on. The challenges were that my macro lens wasn't working and my regular lighting system was busted, luckily I had other working equipment. I spent some time figuring out this shot with this equatorial anole, a common species that normally I probably wouldn't spend too much time with. However this time, I took the time & I made sure I got the result I wanted here before moving on. Surprisingly, It ended up being one of my favorite photos from Ecuador.
