Furry Huntsman (Thelcticopis orichalcea) & Bornean Rasp Cricket (Borneogryllacris borneoensis) - Danum Valley

Thelcticopis is a genus of huntsman spiders that occurs almost exclusively in the Australasian region. I occasionally came across them during my nighttime wanderings through the Bornean Rainforest. These intimidating spiders would usually be seen sitting still on a leaf waiting for some insect prey. As you can see this one found his. The insect the spider is eating is a Bornean Rasp Cricket (Borneogryllacris borneoensis), I couldn't find much information about these but its latin name implies it is likely endemic to Borneo. In the forests of Danum valley they were quite common.
