Little Lynx

Lynx spider sp. (Oxyopidae) - Danum Valley, Malaysia

A pretty spider that caught my eye one night. I was able to narrow it down to the Oxyopidae family, otherwise known as Lynx spiders due to the hairy bristles on its legs as well as the interesting arrangement of eyes. If you look closely you will see the eyes are on a hump on the head arranged in a hexagonal pattern with several even facing backwards. Rather than build a web, these spiders rely on their eyesight to hunt and to evade predators.
