League CEO Dan Gilmartin Discusses the book The Economics of Place at 2012 Education Summit in Munising
The 2012 Region 7 Michigan Municipal League Summit took place in Munising in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula June 7-8. This is an annual event in which Michigan Municipal League staff meet with Upper Peninsula municipal officials to discuss a wide range of topics. This year’s education line up included a welcome address by Munising Mayor Pro Tem Bob Beauprey, chair of MML’s Region 7; a presentation about placemaking by League CEO Dan Gilmartin; a discussion on municipal finance by the League’s Anthony Minghine; a talk about millages by Steve Mitchell; a presentation by Brad Neumann of MSU Extension about the U.P.’s changing demographics; a session about the latest on area drug issues by Detective Lieutenant George Sailer, of U.P. Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET); and a legislative discussion featuring the League’s Samantha Jones Harkins and Michigan Senator Tom Casperson, R-Escanaba.
