Real food - fresh bread
One of the things that was really cool about our time in Spain two years (!!) ago was the plethora of small, local food shops. Tom and I would go out everyone morning to a nearby bakery to get croissants and other sweet nummies for breakfast., and to collect fresh bread like this to use for meals later in the day.
This sort of local production and neighborhood sale of food is largely lost in the U.S., leaving us almost entirely at the mercy of the big box chain groceries.
This makes me sad.
But photos like this help remind me that there are alternatives, and they're not all dead.
