“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” --Calvin Coolidge--
Gratitude Journal Day 13: A WORDY REPRISE :)
Today was a energy draining day! I am back in more yoga training for my 500 hour national certification which took 12 hours out of my weekend keeping me away from my family. My body is fatigued from so many hours in yoga postures. My upper arms and thighs feel like noodles; my soul aches! When I got home from class today we were supposed to run down to IKEA to purchase more cabinets and closet organizers for the house. The energy of the family was totally off. No one was ready to go leaving me very grumpy and snappy. There was no gas in any of the cars....and we were on a time line! We got half way there and turned around realizing that we would all fall apart if we kept on the journey! So we came home, ate dinner and had a "family meeting" about boundaries and respect! We each offered 2 things about our behavior that contributed to the family meltdown this evening (even my 4 and 8 year old are expected to have self awareness in this area) and 2 things that would help going further in the way of "respect and boundaries!" The contract was written up and signed by each of us and finally we found ourselves wrapped in giggles!
*And in the midst of all the evenings bad energy, the sun set over the back yard illuminating my sons mandarin oranges! Today I am SO thankful that we worked on our family problems in a constructive manner and I was able to witness this moment of fiery splendor!
