USA - Colorado River - Horseshoe Bend
The best wonders of nature are those both undeveloped and easily reachable, no?
This amazing bend in the mighty Colorado river lies just off the Highway 89-S, a mere 3/4 mile hike up a sandy dune and down a rocky slope.
Walking towards the bend you're expecting to see a nice view of the river perhaps, but when the cliffs suddenly fall away, there's just plain amazement at this incredible feat of nature...
Millions of pictures already exist of this place, with a big part of them taken with the same gear as mine: a wide-angle at its widest, which is pretty much the only way to fully capture the site's beauty without stitching.
I tried my hand at something slightly original perhaps: putting my tripod on a more or less stable place, pressing the shutter and then racing along the very edge of the cliffs to make it in time for the shot.
Taken just after sunrise, while my travel buddies were still sound asleep...
Triple exposure from a single RAW file.
Highest position on Explore: 337, according to bighugelabs.com. But I see referrers coming from page 11 today? Any ideas?
