St. Lucia Buns
St. Lucia day was Sunday and I made lucia buns for the occasion since I've always regarded the nordic tradition celebrating an Italian Catholic Saint's Day rather curious. :) The preschool kids loved them. I used the recipe in the recent issue of Saveur - www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Saffron-Buns-1000078160 which was very good, if the softest yeast dough I've ever worked with and was rather slow to rise.
Also, I found out that the shape actually represents Lucia's eyes as she's the patron Saint of the blind. :)
