New Traffic Signals at Clark/Balmoral in Andersonville

    Newer Older

While I'm not too impressed with Clark Street's new buffered bike lane down in Lakeview, I'm thrilled about the installation of these new traffic signals at Clark/Balmoral in Andersonville. Huge props to Alderman Osterman for funding this project as part of his money menu.

The new signals include pedestrian countdown signals and leading pedestrian intervals (pedestrians get green signal four seconds before cars). The previous setup included no pedestrian signals whatsoever. Sight lines even made it difficult for pedestrians to see the traffic lights in some locations.

Hmmm, didn't realize the buffered bike lane had been installed north of Diversey, on Clark. Maybe it's just me(and I don't mind the new light being installed), but I hate the fact it's painted black instead of the traditional green. Ah well....
