Car #5005 Interior

    Newer Older

Interior of car #5005, part of CTA's new 5000-series railcars.

Interior features longitudal seating using the same decades-old seat design as previous rail cars. CTA's newest buses feature newer and far more comfortable seats.

Interior design is mostly similar to the 3200-series cars, with exception of a new anti-slip floor design featuring phosphorescent strips. Faux wood paneling has finally been nixed.

Yeah. There is actually less seating space because the chairs are the same as old models- however they are side by side- which isn't enough room for passenger shoulders. Additionally, the new train design is LESS friendly for passengers with crutches, wheel chairs, disabilities and strollers. Secondly, the 6 cameras per RAIL CAR to deter Chicago Graffiti artists and criminals are just another way to say that they are "spending funds" in the right places, when they actually shouldn't have over spent "OLYMPIC PLANNING" funds which would have reduced fairs and kept the 100 buses that they cut this year. CTA is a shady Private Organization that is taking riders money and flushing it down the shitter. Personally I want express buses back. However I realize that as long as CTA contracts what would be great government jobs to SECURITAS and private companies that aren’t based in Illinois that service will always be crap. Just sayin.
