Chicago World's Fair

1933-34

I'm not sure where this was. Maybe someone can help identify it.

My 92-year-old grandmother was born and raised in Chicago (Brookfield) and recalls taking the train all through the 1933-34 World's Fair seasons to wander around the grounds and ogle at all of the amazing architecture and exhibits. When I asked her what she remembers most about being a 16-year-old at fair, without hesitation, she said that she loved to go to the aquarium to look at all of the colorful and exotic fish. She also recalled that her very strict father would never let her out of his sight, a fact that she laments to this day. My grandmother still has a little seashell that she keeps in the bathroom that says, "Chicago World's Fair, 1933." It's something that has always made me smile and wish that I could have been there with her to see all of the sights (and escape the watchful eye of my great-grandfather)!
