kasrkin desert troops front
I wanted to experiment with camo pattern combinations on minis. I have seen plenty of tutorials for different patterns, but I haven't seen many minis that combine them. most folks think it makes them too busy. that may be true in photographs, but I think in person they look good.
the overall effect I was going for was similar to those time periods in which the US Army deployed with mismatched gear. I am immensely fond of 6-color desert, and almost equally so of multicam. multicam is perhaps slightly more difficult to paint at this tiny scale, requiring a bit of thinning of paint to achieve gradients.
I have more of these, I will most likely paint a squad or so in each combination. This can represent the troops initially deploying to theater with appropriate uniforms but their old general purpose woodland armor. they are followed by fellas with multi terrain armor and the theater specific uniform, and those with theater specific armor but multi terrain uniforms. heck, maybe congress made them stretch the equipment so everybody had at least something that matched the countryside!
