Amtrak's try at a second LA-CHI train via the SFe, the resurected "Chief". Train #20 shown here in Arcadia, CA on it's first run east on June 13, 1972. The retaining cribbing is for the approach to the bridge over Huntington Drive. In the distance the tracks curve to the left (west and head to Pasadena. Behind me, they'll curve to the right (east) and pass through Monrovia on the way to Pomona and San Bernardino. This is the former Second District of the Los Angeles Division and just this past week, workers from Kiewit Contractors started pulling up the rail shown here in preparation for the construction of the Gold Line Extension. Sorry about the speed blur, too slow of a shutter speed to catch the speedy train, even on a bridge and through the curves.
