Cologne to Adelaide
When I asked this guy for his photo he answered "Yes. Of course." like it was ridiculous that I even asked. I really love photographing Europeans they give off none of the "this a little strange" or "why did he pick me?" vibe. Perhaps arty things are more ingrained in their culture.
So I originally noticed him because of the neck scarf but he was with his girlfriend so I wasn't going to go up to him. But he started walking away from her pretty much straight away so I approached him. As I shot I asked him what he was up to in Australia and where he was from. He said he was in Melbourne for a little while and then planning on driving to Adelaide. He'd come from Cologne and it was nice to get away from the freezing cold.
I've got into the habit of taking some tight shots and some wide, and while this guy's clothes where cool and the light on the wide shot worked out well I think you can see (below) why I didn't chose that shot.
This is the sixteenth portrait of my attempt at the 100 strangers project.
