Patriot | Michael Christler, 1752-1836

Here lies Michael Christler. He was born in Switzerland on December 12, 1752. He died November 19, 1836, at the age of 83 and is buried in the Christler family cemetery in Shippingport, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. An early settler in this part of the Upper Ohio Valley, he served in the Pennsylvania Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Michael is one of my 5-times-great grandfathers. He is listed in "History of Beaver County, Pennsylvania", by J.F. Richard, A. Warner & Co. Publishing, 1888, chapter 26. Shippingport sits along the side of the Ohio River near the spot where Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia meet. The world's first nuclear power plant was established here in the 1950's, and the Christler Cemetery sits in the shadow of one of the great cooling towers. FYI - we each have 64 five-times-great grandparents representing many lines and branches our family trees. How many have you found?
