Europe and Asia 1965-1970
Four trips in my "golden age" of traveling, so to speak. The dollar was strong, travel was cheap, and I had a lot of vacation time.
1. A two-week trip to Switzerland and Southern Germany, in 1965.
2. Six weeks around the world, my only time in Asia, in 1967. My brother David, who was in the U.S. Air Force in Taiwan, joined me for the first three weeks of the trip.
I visited Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto), Taiwan, and Hong Kong with David. Then I went on to Thailand, Turkey, Greece (including Rhodes), and a last stop in Munich, Germany.
3. Portugal, Spain, France, and England in 1968. I flew on my entire itinerary, Lisbon, Seville, Madrid, Paris, and London. I rented cars for excursions in Lisbon and Madrid.
4. A six-week trip in late winter and early spring 1970, as I prepared to change jobs. I visited Germany (including West Berlin) Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland. I rode trains for most of this trip, using a Eurailpass.
