Sarasota - Our Dinners at French Affair (Detail)

Our dinners at French Affair, a small French provincial restaurant in Sarasota, Florida. This is a detail of the previous photo. French Affair is a small restaurant, with the atmosphere of a family restaurant in France. It is in the Gulf Gate area, about 2 miles (3 km) from our home.

Janet almost always has frog legs at French Affair. I often have one of three dishes, trout almondine, grouper French Affair, or wiener schnitzel. Trout was my selection this evening. The menu says "truite almondine Louis XVI." They said it was because the trout is served with the head cut off. I am not sure whether this was their small joke.

The wine is a white Burgundy, Saint-Veran 2009. I rarely order wine in restaurants, but French Affair has interesting wines at reasonable prices.

The staff consists of the owner, who is the cook, and one or two servers, like some small restaurants in France where I have eaten.
