Dulles International Airport

The main terminal at Dulles International Airport, which handles most long-distance air traffic for the Washington area. The airport was opened in 1962. It is 25 miles (40 km) west of Washington, near Chantilly, Virginia. The terminal and control tower were designed by the famed architect Eero Saarinen. I took this photo in 1970. The terminal was doubled in length in the 1990s.
