Wolfsburg - My 1960 Volkswagen

One of the first things I did after arriving at Heidwinkel was drive to Wolfsburg, the new city where Volkswagens were made. Wolfsburg was only 20 km (12 mles) from Heidwinkel. This is my 1960 Volkswagen in front of the signature building of the factory, which is the power plant. The Mittellandkanal, a major canal across northern Germany, is between me and the plant.

The car is arctic blue (aktisblau in German), an off-white. Volkswagen offered only eight colors in 1960. As I remember, I did not have a choice, but took what came up when my six-month wait for a new car was over.
