Paris - Métro and Bir-Hakeim Bridge

Bir-Hakeim Bridge (Pont de Bir-Hakeim) was opened in 1905 as Passy Bridge. The name was changed in 1948, for a battle which Free French forces fought in North Africa in 1942. This was the classic Paris Métro train set of five cars. The red car in the middle was first class. The train is on line 6, which runs from Étoile (now Charles de Gaulle-Étoile) to Nation.

I took this photo from a Seine River sightseeing boat in 1973. Line 6 was converted to new, rubber-tire trains in 1974. First class was eliminated on the Métro in 1991.
